New series promotes competitive collegiate esports for women

Gaming Events Showcasing Women Players in Esports

Xbox, ESPORTSU, and Paidia gaming have teamed up to organize three gaming events that aim to give women players a platform to showcase their achievements and skills. Alongside these events, there will also be two content series highlighting the journey of participating teams and developing shoutcasting talent.

The first event is a national, collegiate VALORANT qualifying tournament that will feature colleges from the U.S. and Canada. The tournament aims to highlight top-tier collegiate women players and will conclude with a finals event at the Esports Stadium Arlington.

Another tournament called Paidia Cup: Women’s Matchmaking Season will also take place, providing women gamers with a national competition. The top two teams from this tournament will advance to the finals, which will be held in Texas for the Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup from May 5 to May 7.

Accompanying the tournaments are two content series: “Road to CECC,” which follows participating teams’ journey to the finals in Texas, and “Cast This,” which focuses on discovering and developing shoutcasting talent.

According to a press release, these events and content pieces aim to disrupt the industry, creating an inviting, entertaining, and engaging gaming environment that fosters positive social connections.

Collegiate teams interested in participating can sign up through Paidia’s website for the national collegiate women’s tournament. The Paidia Cup: Women’s VALORANT Matchmaking Season will run from February to May, attracting women gamers from across North America vying for the top two spots. Each week, ESPORTSU’s Twitch channel will livestream one match from the tournament.

Fans looking to watch the matches can tune into ESPORTSU’s Twitch channel every week until the finals. The finals event will feature various activities, including a vendor village, career fair, cosplay costume contests, esports celebrity meet and greets, and a technology expo.
