M80 recruits renowned French FPS player to lead VALORANT team

Former Counter-Strike Legend “Happy” Joins M80 as Head Coach for VALORANT Team

M80, a North American organization, has announced that Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer, a former Counter-Strike player and now a VALORANT player, has joined their team as the head coach. Happy will be leading M80 in the upcoming Challengers circuit, which is hosted by Knights Arena. Unlike other teams that had to qualify through the open qualifier, M80 was selected to participate in the circuit. The open qualifier began yesterday.

M80 made headlines last month when they acquired the former Ghost Gaming core, along with Daniel “eeiu” Vucenovic and Alexander “Zander” Dituri.

Happy, who is known as a Counter-Strike legend with two Major victories, made the switch to VALORANT in 2020. However, he was unable to qualify for the VALORANT Champions Tour in Europe and didn’t find success at the highest level of competitive play.

M80 CEO Marco Mereu stated that Happy brings a level of experience that other coaches may not have. “There is only one Happy. I guess you have to know him,” Mereu said. He also mentioned that Happy has a unique blend of experience at the highest level of FPS play, performing under pressure, and the ability to bring out the best in his team members. Mereu expressed confidence in their coaching and support staff for the upcoming Challengers.

M80’s Challengers run is set to begin on Feb. 1.
