Saying Farewell to SEA: Talon Esports Departs With Dota 2 Squad for an Exciting ‘New Era’

Talon Esports and its Dota 2 Team Part Ways

In 2023, the European Dota 2 region was dominant, but SEA representatives like Talon Esports proved to be formidable challengers. However, despite a relatively successful year, Talon and its Dota 2 roster have mutually decided to part ways, leaving the future uncertain for both parties.

Talon assured fans that this departure marks the beginning of a “new era” for the team. While other organizations like Beastcoast have taken a step back to observe the post-Dota Pro Circuit competition, Talon aims to stay active in the Dota 2 scene.

With players Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon, Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman, Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong, Worawit “Q” Mekchai, and Chan “Oli” Chon Kien now in free agency, it remains uncertain whether they will stick together as a team.

23savage, the star player of the team, shared a heartfelt farewell message on his personal Twitter account, expressing gratitude to the Talon organization and reflecting on the team’s journey.

In terms of earnings, Talon ranked fourth among the top-earning Dota 2 teams in 2023, earning over $2 million in prize money. As the next major Dota 2 event will be held in the SEA region, specifically Kuala Lumpur, the post-TI 2023 roster shuffle season is expected to be intense.

The upcoming ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 tournament features a $1 million prize pool, creating even more excitement for the competitive season after TI.

While teams have less time to complete their rosters compared to previous years, Valve’s step back may lead to a longer shuffle period, allowing teams to make player changes even after the first major events of the 2024 season.
