Beastcoast Announces Roster Changes Following TI 2023 Disappointment, Remains Committed to South American Dota Strategy

SOUTH AMERICAN DOTA 2 TEAM BEASTCOAST RELEASED AFTER TI11

Less than two weeks after their performance at The International groups, South American Dota 2 team beastcoast has been released by the organization. However, the organization has assured that they will continue their commitment to Dota.

The release of the squad was announced by beastcoast members on their personal Facebook profiles. Players such as Elvis “Scofield” Peña, David “Parker” Nicho Flores, Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera, Rafael “Sacred” Yonatan, and Steven “StingeR” Vargas all declared themselves as free agents for the upcoming season.

Although beastcoast did not issue an official release, they made a brief statement on October 30, stating that their players are actively seeking talent and synergy and the organization is dedicated to working with them to achieve their goals.

The statement also mentioned that the squad’s pursuit of excellence aligns with beastcoast’s commitment to South American Dota, implying that the organization will remain in the region for the revamped Dota Pro Circuit in 2024.

Beastcoast had a successful run at TI11, finishing in the top eight. They had to make roster adjustments due to the departure of two players to Evil Geniuses, but they bounced back with back-to-back DPC SA wins in early 2023.

However, they struggled to replicate their regional success internationally in 2023. Their best result was a sixth-place finish at DreamLeague Season 19. The departure of carry player Héctor “K1” Rodríguez due to health reasons marked the end of the beastcoast Dota 2 core. K1 went on to join nouns prior to TI 2023.

ROSTER CHANGES LIKELY AFTER DISAPPOINTING TI PERFORMANCE

Despite their success in the DPC, beastcoast and the rest of South America struggled during the group stage of TI. Beastcoast only managed to win two matches against nouns and Virtus Pro.

The Dota scene is now on a break after TI 2023, giving beastcoast a month to prepare for ESL One Kuala Lumpur and assemble their new Dota 2 squad for the upcoming season. Roster changes are expected throughout South America following the region’s disappointing performance at TI.
