Renowned Chinese Dota 2 team to participate in TI12 with a fresh identity

Paris Saint-Germain and LGD Gaming End Partnership in Dota 2

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has been a pioneer in traditional sports clubs entering the world of esports, specifically Dota 2. In 2018, PSG and LGD formed a partnership and achieved remarkable success, finishing in the top three at three consecutive TIs. Today, however, the partnership between PSG and LGD has come to an end.

Longest Sponsorship Deal in Dota 2 History

It is worth noting that partnerships in the Dota 2 world tend to be short-lived. Despite this, PSG and LGD managed to establish one of the longest-running sponsorship deals in the game’s history. While the team roster underwent changes over the years, the PSG.LGD name remained, exceeding fan expectations.

As their partnership with PSG expires, PSG.LGD has announced that they will be competing under the name LGD Gaming in upcoming events, returning to their roots.

PSG’s Future in Dota 2

With LGD Gaming reverting to their original name, many wondered if PSG would continue their presence in the Dota 2 scene. While PSG continues to participate in other esports games, such as League of Legends, they have also sponsored teams in Dota 2.

As The International 2023 approaches, three potential candidates for a new PSG partnership have emerged. Talon Esports, Tundra Esports, and Quest Esports have all qualified for TI12 and have an existing relationship with PSG, making negotiations smoother.

In addition, PSG may also reconsider its financial investments. The club has been facing financial difficulties, and there have been talks of selling their star soccer player Kylian Mbappé to alleviate the burden.

LGD Gaming’s Legacy

LGD Gaming has a rich history in Dota 2, being one of the oldest organizations in the game. While they have yet to claim the Aegis of Champions, their consistent performances over the years compensate for the absence of first-place trophies. Fans have expressed their desire for LGD Gaming to bring back their iconic red-text-only logo.
