Team Liquid’s Impressive Performance at the Lima Major
Team Liquid’s recent performance at the Lima Major is close to being a triumph. With their new roster featuring Nisha, they have already secured a top-three finish. Fans of Liquid are thrilled to see their team maintain their form after MATUMBAMAN’s retirement. Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi and Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg also shared their reflections on their journey so far.
The fact that Liquid started the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit with a third-place finish at The International 2022 speaks volumes about their potential for the rest of the year. iNSaNiA, the team captain and position five player, gives credit to Naruto for their success, as they have been winning ever since she started watching the legendary anime.
In a post-game interview with host Sean “Snare” Rihlamvu, Zai reflected on the recent changes that Liquid went through after Matu’s departure. According to Zai, Matu was the “driving force” for the Liquid team throughout 2022. However, in the 2023 Dota 2 season, Zai filled in the leadership role. While Nisha may lack Matu’s leadership attributes, Zai believes that she is a better player overall and even took the opportunity to tease his former teammate with a “fuck Matu.”
Zai also shared insights on how Liquid and himself dealt with the increased responsibilities to fill Matu’s gap. Despite being only 25 years old, Zai has been competing at the highest level since 2013, making him a seasoned veteran. He believed that it was time for him to take on more responsibilities and contribute to his team with his vast experience. Coach William “Blitz” Lee also supported this decision, and it seems to be working out well.
Currently, Liquid is waiting to face Gaimin Gladiators in the upper bracket finals. This European showdown will determine who advances to the Grand Finals, set to take place on March 5.
