Former Evil Geniuses Roster Joins Shopify Rebellion
In the Dota 2 offseason, the former Evil Geniuses roster made headlines by parting ways with the organization and signing with Shopify Rebellion.
This season, the roster, including Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, Abed Yusop, Andreas “Cr1t” Nielsen, Tal “Fly” Aizik, and new addition Jonáš “SabeRLight” Volek, is determined to make an impact. Fly believes that their decision to sign a natural offlaner, replacing a carry player, is a sign that they are correcting past mistakes.
In a recent interview during coverage of the DPC 2023 NA Winter Tour Division I, Fly revealed that he wanted a natural offlaner as soon as he found out Nightfall was leaving the team, responding to a question from former EG captain Clinton “Fear” Loomis.
Fly clarified that the decision was not because carry players can’t transition to the offlane role, as seen in recent years. Instead, having a natural offlaner eliminates the learning process, allowing the team to experience success more quickly.

Shopify Rebellion started the season with a decisive victory against Thiuth Gaming. SabeRLight displayed exceptional skill as Doom and Tusk, achieving eight kills, zero deaths, and 21 assists. While it’s still early days, the team is off to a promising start.
Only time will tell if they can reclaim their position as top contenders for the Aegis. However, having a natural offlaner for the first time in years will undoubtedly make their journey easier.
