Evil Geniuses Welcomes All-Star South American Dota 2 Roster for DPC 2023 Season

Evil Geniuses Officially Signs All-Star South American Dota 2 Roster for 2023 Season

After weeks of speculation and rumors, Evil Geniuses has finally confirmed the signing of a new all-star South American Dota 2 roster for the upcoming 2023 Dota Pro Circuit season.

The Roster

  • Former Thunder Awaken players—Jose “Pandaboo” Hernandez, Farith “Matthew” Huamancaja, and Crhistian “Pakazs” Casanova—have officially joined Evil Geniuses.
  • The trio’s ex-TA coach Juan “Vintage” Angulo Nicho is also making the move to EG.
  • In addition, former beastcoast staples Jean “Chris Luck” Salazar and Adrián “Wisper” Dobles have been signed.

This signing marks the breakup of one of the longest-lasting Dota rosters in competitive history.

EG’s Previous Moves

Before acquiring this new roster, EG dropped its TI11 roster and announced plans to leave North America for the first time since 2011 to compete in South America with a fresh lineup.

EG’s Plans for the Upcoming DPC Season

Former EG captain Fly has confirmed that at least some members of the roster will continue to compete in North America under a new name, using the Division I slot previously held by the org.

Completing the Move to South America

In order to fully transition to South America for the 2023 DPC season, EG needs to secure a Division I slot in the Winter Tour regional league. SG Esports, who recently ceased operations, holds one of those coveted slots, making it likely that EG will acquire it.

With the signing now official, Evil Geniuses is prepared to compete for DPC Points and secure an invite to the first Major of the upcoming pro season.
