Evil Geniuses Parts Ways with Arteezy and Cr1t-led Team, Announces Shift to South America

Evil Geniuses Drops Dota 2 Roster and Sets Sights on South America

Evil Geniuses has made a groundbreaking announcement, parting ways with their Dota 2 roster and venturing into the South American scene. The move comes as no surprise, as rumors have been circulating for some time. CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson confirmed the news, shaking up both the North American and South American regions.

The NA juggernaut bid farewell to the roster that led them to The International 2022 and featured a core duo that had been with the team since September 2016. EG’s decision is driven by their desire to incorporate strategies from their other competitive divisions and nurture talent in the rising South American region.

LaPointe Jameson believes that EG’s success in other competitive divisions, such as League of Legends, CS:GO, and VALORANT, can be leveraged in the Dota scene. The organization aims to apply its learnings and achieve similar success by scouting and supporting new talent in Dota.

This significant move marks the first time that Evil Geniuses will not compete in the NA region since joining Dota in October 2011. Additionally, it will be the first time since 2016 that the organization will field a roster without Arteezy or Cr1t-.

Both Arteezy and Cr1t-, along with Abed, Nightfall, Fly, and former head coach BuLba, are now free agents following the team’s disappointing early exit at TI11. Despite their dominant group stage performance, the team failed to maintain momentum in the playoffs.

Although management has not directly revealed their next steps, sources indicate that EG will be signing part of the former core roster of Thunder Awaken, Pakazs, Matthew, and Pandaboo. This trio will reportedly team up with former beastcoast players Wisper and Chris Luck, leading to a player exchange between the top SA teams.
