Riot Commemorates China’s First Year in VALORANT with its Own VCT Masters

Riot Games Confirms VALORANT Champions Tour 2024 Event in Shanghai, China

Riot Games has officially announced that the second event for the VALORANT Champions Tour 2024 will be held in Shanghai, China.

In July 2023, Riot’s popular first-person shooter became accessible to the Chinese public. The positive response from the community has prompted the publisher to choose China as the host country for one of VCT’s major competitions next year.

Leo Faria, the global head of VALORANT Esports, stated that VCT Masters 2024 will take place in Shanghai to celebrate the first anniversary of VALORANT’s launch in China.

Despite launching globally over three years ago, VALORANT faced licensing regulations in China that delayed its release in the country. However, after obtaining approval, the game has garnered a significant player base in China. The country has already fielded two teams in past international tournaments for this year’s VCT.

Impressed by the uprising of over 10 local teams and the region’s strong presence at international events, Riot decided to show their appreciation for the Chinese VALORANT community by bringing Masters to Shanghai next year.

Faria emphasized the global reach of the VALORANT community and highlighted the significance of expanding the game’s availability to one of the world’s most populous countries.

The announcement of Shanghai as the location for Masters 2024 will undoubtedly excite VALORANT fans worldwide. For those who may have been discouraged by the long journey, there is still hope that the 2024 LOCK//IN event will be hosted closer to their location.
