2020’s Most Trending Keyword: VALORANT

VALORANT Emerges as One of the Most Trending Keywords of 2020

The tactical shooter game, VALORANT, has become the second-most trending keyword of 2020, according to SEO tool and software company SEMrush.

Riot Games launched VALORANT as a closed beta in April and officially released it in June. The game created a buzz within the FPS community, leading to a significant increase in searches related to “valorant” and making it one of the top trending keywords of the year.

SEMrush’s rankings are based on the search volume of a keyword in the current year compared to its lowest search volume in the same year. With VALORANT’s launch earlier this year, the keyword saw a massive surge in popularity, increasing by 3.5 million percent.

The game’s popularity is expected to continue growing, as Riot Games continues to release new content and invest in its competitive ecosystem. Currently, VALORANT is in the midst of the North American qualifiers for its first Riot-produced tournament, First Strike.

Riot Games’ tactical shooter was only surpassed by Dalgona coffee, which gained immense popularity on TikTok and became one of the most hyped beverages of the year. VALORANT joins other notable keywords like “stimulus check” and “toilet paper online,” reflecting the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on daily life.
