16-year-old Mary’s Outstanding Performance on Chamber Secures G2’s Spot in VALORANT Game Changers Championship Grand Final

The VALORANT Game Changers Championship: G2 Gozen Advances to Grand Final

The final match of the VALORANT Game Changers Championship determined which team would advance to the grand final. The battle in the upper bracket featured EMEA’s G2 Gozen and Brazil’s Team Liquid.

G2 continued their dominant performance throughout the tournament, winning the match 2-0 against Team Liquid. However, the scoreline does not tell the whole story.

Liquid chose to challenge G2 on Ascent, the only map they lost to North American favorites Cloud9 White in their previous match.

Liquid made a strong start on Ascent, securing five consecutive rounds. The standout player for Liquid on Ascent was bstrdd on Jett, who delivered key frags to maintain their momentum.

On the other hand, G2 had Mary, a 16-year-old operator-wielding menace. Mary and bstrdd engaged in an intense duel throughout the map, taking advantage of Ascent’s long sightlines.

The momentum swung back and forth for both teams, resulting in the first map heading into overtime. G2 ultimately won both rounds in overtime, redeeming themselves with a 14-12 victory.

The series then moved to G2’s map pick, Breeze. Breeze was not a map that G2 was known for in the EMEA region, but the team showed their prowess on the tropical map in Berlin.

Bstrdd once again shone on Jett, making aggressive plays and combining movement with a 32% headshot percentage. However, Mary’s headshot percentage was even higher at 35%, showcasing her dominance with the Agent Chamber.

Another standout player for G2 was mimi, a veteran player who previously competed in CS:GO professionally and played for XSET in NA.

Despite a slow start on Ascent, mimi’s utility and aim were on point on Breeze. Playing as KAY/O, mimi out-fragged her teammate Mary, finishing with a 21-17 score on the map.

G2 secured a 13-10 victory on Breeze, avoiding overtime.

The first international Game Changers event showcased the diversity of VALORANT and the female and non-binary community in esports. The top three teams in the tournament represent different regions.

G2 now awaits their opponents in the grand finals. They will either face C9 or Liquid in a rematch, or they will go up against the yet-to-play Shopify.

As for Liquid, their next match is scheduled for November 19 at 12pm CT against the winner of C9 vs Shopify.
