ELEAGUE Announces New CS:GO Major Championship

ELEAGUE, in partnership with Turner and WME | IMG, has just announced a new Major Championship for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This will be the 10th Major Championship in the history of CS:GO and will take place from January 22-29, 2017, in Atlanta.

The Major qualifier, which will feature a $1 million prize purse, will be held from December 15-18 and will be live streamed on Twitch. Additionally, all the events leading up to the Grand Final in January will be broadcasted on both TBS and Twitch.

Lenny Daniels, President of Turner Sports, expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support and engagement from the esports community. He stated, “When we launched ELEAGUE, we set out to deliver a best-in-class experience for esports teams, players, and fans.” Daniels also mentioned their excitement to host the next CS:GO Major Championship and their commitment to utilizing all available resources to make it a prestigious event.

The event will feature sixteen Legend and Challenger teams, with the qualifier consisting of the top eight teams eliminated in the prior major group stage, as well as the top eight teams identified through Regional Minor Championships.
