Acend Dominates SuperMassive Blaze in VCT Masters Berlin
Acend showcased their dominance in the first match of VCT Masters Berlin, securing a resounding 2-0 victory against SuperMassive Blaze.
Prior to the match, there was uncertainty among VALORANT fans and analysts about the potential winner. However, Acend proved their superiority by defeating SMB on Bind and Ascent, despite SMB having a strong chance of winning on the latter map. Although the second map was closely contested, SMB failed to counter Acend’s aggressive playstyle.
Acend Prevails on Bind
In the first map on Bind, Acend’s past success on this map was evident. SMB opted for an unconventional composition with Turko on Skye and pAura on Viper. However, this composition backfired as SMB suffered a crushing 13-5 defeat.
During the latter part of the Bind match, Acend pulled off a humorous yet strategic move against Turko. They amusingly sent Vandals through the portal to Turko, but SMB managed to win the next round using those guns. Acend ultimately regained control and secured the rest of the map, leaving a memorable moment in the first match of Masters.
Map two took place on Ascent, where SMB was expected to make a comeback. The map started with both teams evenly matched, and Acend seemed to be in good spirits during SMB’s tactical pause, even having some off-camera fun. However, SMB quickly gained momentum and won the next five rounds.
Close Contest on Ascent
Despite SMB being the favored team on Ascent, the match remained closely contested. Acend played aggressively against SMB, even in rounds where they had inferior weapons, and their strategy proved successful. They emerged as the victors of the second map with a score of 13-9, securing their first match win at VCT Masters Berlin.
Immediately following the victory, Acend celebrated by replicating Fnatic’s celebrations at Masters Reykjavík. The team set up a makeshift cloth for their matador, and the players ran through it like bulls.
Acend will now face the winner of the Vision Strikers vs. PaperRex match, while SMB’s next match could potentially lead to elimination, as they face the loser of that matchup.
