TSM Parts Ways with VALORANT Roster Following Ascension Americas Absence

TSM Releases Entire VALORANT Roster After Disappointing Run

After a disappointing first half of the year, TSM has made the decision to release its entire competitive VALORANT roster.

TSM is parting ways with Corey “corey” Nigra, Eric “Kanpeki” Xu, Anthony “gMd” Guimond, Nicholas “NaturE” Garrison, and Johann “seven” Hernandez, a month after letting go of team head coach Andrey “Engh” Sholokhov.

The decision to release the roster comes after their recent losses at VCT Challengers Americas, where they were eliminated early from the playoffs by Moist Moguls and FaZe Clan. This not only prevented them from competing at VCT Challengers Ascension, but also from securing a guaranteed spot in next year’s Challengers.

As a result, TSM’s VALORANT team will not have the opportunity to compete for the rest of the year. However, the organization has reassured fans that they will return to the Challengers scene when the season resumes.

This development has quickly become a topic of discussion among fans who hope for improvements to the tier-two system. Many believe that the path-to-pro is not as stable and sustainable as it could be, especially when teams are incentivized to release their tier-two rosters if they can’t break into Ascension.

Furthermore, the six-month gap between seasons, where non-Ascension teams won’t be participating in major tournaments, poses a significant challenge to the longevity of the scene. TSM is not the only team to undergo major roster changes after missing Ascension, as G2 Esports also released almost their entire roster after a disappointing season.
