Karrigan, Gla1ve, and a Game-Changing Roster Swap

Astralis Could Be the Best CS:GO Team in History

Astralis is on their way to becoming one of the greatest teams in CS:GO history. It’s not just because of the outstanding performances of their players like Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, Peter “dupreeh” Rothmann, Markus Kjærbye, and Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth. The biggest factor is the roster move that brought in Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander and sent Finn “karrigan” Andersen to FaZe.

Gla1ve brought a new style and system to the team, taking their talent to new heights. This move not only elevated Astralis but also brought experienced leadership and structure to FaZe Clan. It’s fair to say that this is the most important roster move in the past two years.

The Case for Other Important Roster Moves

To understand the significance of this move, we can compare it to other important roster moves. The 2015 French Shuffle saw EnVyUs and Titan form two strong teams. EnVyUs became the best team in the world, while Titan had the potential to displace a dynasty. This move transitioned to a new era and redefined it, making it a strong case but not the strongest.

Another significant roster move was the addition of TACO and fnx to Luminosity Gaming. This move propelled Luminosity into a group of world-beaters and they went on to win back-to-back Major championships in 2016. Although they couldn’t claim dominance throughout the entire year, their impact was greater than EnVyUs. However, this move didn’t have the same level of success as the French Shuffle.

FaZe and Astralis Gain Leadership

With the addition of gla1ve, Astralis became the best team in the world and brought order back to the CS:GO hierarchy. They maintained a level of consistency even against strong opponents. FaZe’s second-place finish at IEM Katowice 2017 and their recent win at StarLadder StarSeries Season 3 make their overall importance greater than G2’s in 2016.

Karrigan built a system from the ground-up for FaZe, giving structure to a team known for its lack of it. Niko’s addition was important, but only within the scope of Karrigan’s system. Astralis and FaZe have had a more impactful role in the CS:GO narrative compared to other teams.

Conclusion

Considering the impact of these roster moves, it’s safe to say that Gla1ve to Astralis and Karrigan to FaZe is the most important roster move since 2015. Astralis and FaZe have reached new heights and are among the greatest teams in CS:GO history.
