GHOST GAMING DOMINATES THE GUARD IN NA VCT CHALLENGERS MATCH
Ghost Gaming delivered a decisive victory over The Guard in their NA VCT Challengers Stage Two week two match-up. The Guard’s losing streak now extends to four straight series, and they have a 0-2 record in the group stage.
On Haven, both teams showcased new compositions, with Ghost picking Fade for her first appearance in NA VCT. Ghost took control early on defense with powerful retakes, utilizing the utility of Fade, Breach, and Astra to their advantage. They claimed the first eight rounds and dominated the first half with an 11-1 lead. In the second half, Ghost continued their dominance, winning the pistol round and bonus to secure a commanding 13-1 victory on Haven.
The Guard showed signs of stabilization on Ascent, with JonahP’s stellar performance on Jett leading their strong defensive showing. The Guard won nine consecutive rounds before Ghost finally responded, resulting in a 10-2 scoreline at half-time. Ghost demonstrated their defensive prowess once again, staging a comeback but ultimately falling short in a 13-8 loss to The Guard’s successful attack rounds.
The series moved to Fracture, where Ghost showcased their attacking skills in the first half while The Guard struggled to defend. However, The Guard adapted with a more proactive approach to defense later in the half, narrowing the Ghost lead to 7-5 before the sides switched. Ghost secured the second half pistol round with a sneaky defuse and extended their lead thanks to koalanoob’s Chamber anchoring the sites.
With this win, Ghost Gaming avoids a 0-2 start after their defeat to XSET in week one. On the other hand, The Guard continues their losing streak, having lost their last four matches since their victory over OpTic in the grand finals of the NA Stage One playoffs. The Guard is still seeking to recover from their tough showing at Masters Reykjavík and their unexpected loss to 100 Thieves in week one.
