Cloud9 Adds Star Duo to Complete VALORANT Roster for VCT 2023

Cloud9 Signs yay and Zellsis to Complete Its VALORANT Roster

North American esports organization Cloud9 has made an impactful start to its VALORANT partnership era. C9 has officially signed star players Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, confirming earlier reports by . The addition of yay and Zellsis completes the already strong C9 roster for the upcoming VCT 2023 season.

This dynamic duo will join the existing core of C9, featuring long-time members Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, Nathan “leaf” Orf, and Erick “Xeppaa” Bach. This move marks the reunion of vanity and Zellsis, who previously played together on Version1 in 2021 after transitioning from NA CS:GO. The team will be guided by coach Matthew “mCe” Elmore, formerly of The Guard.

C9 has emerged victorious in the race to sign yay, securing the services of one of the most consistent and prominent talents in the VALORANT scene. OpTic Gaming missed out on the partnership, leading their players and coaching staff to explore other opportunities. With yay’s expertise primarily focused on Chamber, OpTic achieved top-three finishes in all three international VCT events this year. Despite receiving lucrative offers from multiple teams, yay has chosen C9 as his new home.

After impressing with his performance on Version1 during the 2022 season, Zellsis briefly joined Sentinels for their Last Chance Qualifier with popular streamer shroud. However, the team fell short of reaching Champions, and Sentinels decided to part ways with Zellsis as the tournament began. Following a brief return to Version1, Zellsis has now signed with C9.

C9 will be competing in the VCT Americas league next year alongside four other prominent North American organizations: Sentinels, Evil Geniuses, NRG, and 100 Thieves.
