Sentinels Reunite with Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty as Head Coach

Sentinels have welcomed Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty back as the head coach of their VALORANT team, following a compromise with his previous organization FaZe Clan.

Rawkus’ Journey from Player to Coach

Rawkus, who previously played professionally for FaZe Clan throughout the end of 2020 and most of 2021, transitioned to become the head coach of Sentinels. However, his coaching role was cut short after the North American Last Chance Qualifier, where FaZe Clan was eliminated. Rawkus then coached Sentinels at VALORANT Champions until his borrowed contract expired on January 1.

The Buyout Complications and Rawkus’ Return

Sentinels and FaZe Clan engaged in discussions about Rawkus’ future after the Champions event. Unfortunately, the organizations couldn’t reach a deal due to buyout complications. On February 26, Rawkus publicly revealed that he was no longer coaching the former back-to-back Masters champions. In a TwitLonger, Rawkus explained the situation and stated his intention to include FaZe Clan in his social media again as part of his contract. He also expressed interest in exploring opportunities as a VALORANT player for another team in various roles.

A Second Chance with Sentinels

However, after several months of not securing a spot on another team as a player, Rawkus has rejoined Sentinels as their head coach. Sentinels recently made a roster change by replacing long-term member Jared “zombs” Gitlin with Eric “Kanpeki” Xu. Although Sentinels fell short of qualifying for the main event in VCT Challengers 2, having Rawkus back as their coach gives them a guiding presence and another chance to potentially reach Masters 2 later this year.
