VALORANT players demand balance revamp for imbalanced duelist character

Reyna in VALORANT: Players Call for Changes to the Lackluster Duelist

VALORANT has a diverse roster of 23 agents, but not all of them are perfect. One agent in particular, Reyna, has been deemed lackluster by players despite being a popular pick in ranked matches. Now, players are urging Riot to make some fixes.

A player named Snotax expressed their opinion on Reddit about how Reyna is “straight-up bad for the game.” They pointed out that Reyna’s kit is one-sided and lacks team value.

Reyna may have a high pick rate in VALORANT’s ranked mode due to her independent mechanics and simple kit, but she is completely ignored in professional play. This highlights her unbalanced state in the meta, as an agent should be viable in both ranked and pro play. Additionally, her popularity decreases significantly as players climb the ranked ladder.

As players gain experience and learn the importance of team play in higher ranks, they realize that Reyna does not fit the team-oriented requirement. She also appears unbalanced and overpowered in certain scenarios. Snotax mentioned how unfair it is to face a smurf or a hacker using Reyna’s efficient self-healing ability.

Many VALORANT players share Snotax’s sentiment and are calling for changes to Reyna. One player specifically mentioned their frustration with Reyna’s Empress Ultimate, which makes her invulnerable and reduces time-to-kill (TTK) in a first-person shooter game. They emphasized that this frustration existed when transitioning from CS:GO to VALORANT.

Players have expressed concerns about Reyna’s Devour ability, which can be powerful in pistol rounds. However, there is no debuff to balancing her self-healing ability, allowing her to heal and fight simultaneously. Players believe that Riot should buff Reyna’s Leer ability to make her stronger in her role as a duelist.

Reyna’s kit currently seems deficient compared to other duelists like Raze and Jett, who offer more team-centric abilities. In a double duelist composition, players prefer Neon, Phoenix, and Yoru due to their supportive yet potent space-taking abilities.

It’s worth mentioning that while Reyna is not commonly picked in pro play, Paper Rex and Evil Geniuses have utilized her in certain matches. However, most teams still avoid selecting her in the competitive meta.

It remains to be seen if Riot will address the community’s requests, especially with the release of a new duelist in the near future.
