VALORANT introduces paid option to support your beloved esports teams

Riot Games Confirms Team-Branded Weapon Skins Coming to VALORANT Store

Riot Games has finally confirmed that esports-themed weapon skins will be making their way to the VALORANT store next year. This exciting news has players eagerly anticipating the opportunity to support their favorite teams, although it may come with a hefty price tag.

Leo Faria, the global head of VALORANT esports, confirmed the arrival of team-branded weapon skins in an interview with Sports Business Journal on June 20. These skins are expected to be similar in price to other premium skins that have been released in VALORANT’s microtransaction system over the past three years.

This integration of competitive gaming and in-game purchases is not new to Riot Games. Their popular game League already offers skins for championship players, while Overwatch introduced team-themed skins in 2018. Counter-Strike has also long featured team-themed stickers. VALORANT may be late to the game, but it is sure to see a surge in team skin purchases.

The success of VALORANT Champions 2022, with a peak viewer count of 1.5 million according to escharts.com, indicates a growing esports scene for the game. Riot earned $20 million from the VCT LOCK//IN bundle in March, showing that there are already plenty of players willing to spend on VALORANT-related content. As the esports scene continues to expand, the demand for these team-themed skins is only expected to grow.

Riot Games has not yet announced an official release date for the first batch of VALORANT esports skins.
