Ballistix to replace Fnatic Academy at the PGL European Minor

Fnatic’s Academy Team Partners with Ballistix for PGL European Minor

Fnatic’s academy team is set to make waves at the upcoming PGL European Minor in Bucharest, Romania. The organization announced yesterday that the team will be representing their main hardware sponsor, Ballistix, at the tournament.

Temporary Change for Development

Despite the partnership with Ballistix, Fnatic stated that they are still in search of a permanent home for their academy team. The rebranding as Ballistix is only temporary and will be limited to this specific event according to Ballistix.

Academy Teams Face Rebranding Challenge

Academy teams have become a significant issue in professional Counter-Strike since the ruling by PGL, organizers of the Krakow Major tournament. The ruling stated that academy teams must have different names and logos than their main team. While academy teams are meant to develop talent, they are also expected to maintain the same branding. Many large organizations, including Fnatic, North, and CLG, have adopted academy teams.

Ballistix’s Path to PGL Major Krakow Offline Qualifier

Ballistix will be competing against eight other teams for a chance to secure one of three spots at the PGL Major Krakow Offline Qualifier. They will face BIG, Team EnVyUs, and Team Kinguin in Group A during the initial group stage. If they advance, they may have to go up against PENTA Sports, Team LDLC, Team Dignitas, or iGame.com from Group B.

Ballistix has the potential to surprise some of the top teams, including Team EnVyUs, during the European Minor.
