When are Rocket League ranks reset?

Your Guide to Ranked Season Resets in Rocket League

Every new ranked season in Rocket League brings a fresh opportunity for players to prove themselves on the pitch. While most players are focused on climbing the ranks throughout the season, it’s important to remember that each new season allows for a fresh start. Ranks in Rocket League reset at the beginning of each competitive season.

What to Expect During a Rank Reset

During a rank reset, your rank will not completely reset. Instead, you’ll need to play 10 placement matches to determine your new rank. The system takes into account your past performances and considers your hidden MMR (Matchmaking Rating) and matchmaking history while calibrating your position. This means that these rank resets aren’t full resets, and your past performance still plays a role in determining your new rank.

When Will the Next Ranked Reset Happen?

The timing of the next ranked reset depends on the end date of the active season. Rocket League seasons typically last around three to four months. If you know the start date of the current season, you can estimate when the next rank reset will occur. Alternatively, you can check the in-game counter on the Rocket Pass tab for the release date of the new season.

Tips for Success During a Rank Reset

When a new season begins, it’s important to bring your A-game during the calibration matches. You won’t have a chance to redo these matches, so aim for as many wins as possible to increase your chances of achieving a higher rank. Keep in mind that if you end up with the same rank or a few tiers below your previous rank, there’s no need to worry. You’ll still have plenty of time throughout the season to climb the ranked ladder. Plus, as you enjoy the new ranked season, you can also work towards ranking up your Rocket Pass, unlocking new cosmetics and rewards along the way.
