Riot Games Reveals New VALORANT Agent Cypher through Range Update
Riot Games has recently provided new information on the upcoming VALORANT agent in their latest update, introducing Cypher to the Range.
The Range serves as a practice playground in VALORANT, allowing players to improve their aim, practice post-plant situations, and delve into the game’s lore. In a previous update, Riot subtly hinted at the next agent’s identity by leaving clues and sending emails throughout the Range. This revelation unveiled that the 21st agent, codenamed Mage and known as Varun Batra, will be joining the game. Hailing from an undisclosed location in India, this male agent is confirmed to be a controller.
Upon entering the Range, players will notice a spot on the left where Cypher is positioned casually against the wall. This marks the first time Riot has added a moving artificial intelligence (AI) representation of an agent outside of matches. As the player approaches, Cypher stands up and skillfully flips his trap coin in his hand. If the player proceeds past Cypher into the office area, they can access an audio file providing insights into the new agent. Interacting with the laptop prompts the audio file to play.
In the audio file, a mysterious voice exclaims, “I don’t believe it, the whole thing’s a shame. After all those years of service, Batra is a hero, not a traitor.” Another voice reveals, “He [Batra] stole an artifact with power we’ve never seen before and tried to murder Greaves.”
The audio clip, lasting around a minute and a half, consists of a conversation between two individuals, possibly inside a truck, as they actively discuss Batra. The speakers mention Batra’s legendary status and emphasize that he is genuinely a kind-hearted individual.
Despite the audio file providing new details about Batra, there is currently no confirmed release date for his introduction. However, players can expect him to potentially arrive in the next Act.
