Team Vitality Mourns the Loss of VALORANT Player Twisten

Team Vitality has sadly announced the passing of their professional VALORANT player, Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener. The 19-year-old took his own life, leaving the gaming community devastated.

Team Vitality expressed their deep sadness and offered their thoughts and prayers to Twisten’s family and friends during this difficult time. The organization has decided to halt all communications for the day as a mark of respect.

A Promising Career Cut Short

Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener had a promising career in professional VALORANT, having played since September 2020. He joined Team Vitality in November 2022 after playing for BIG. He made his international debut at VCT LOCK//IN in Brazil, representing the organization in the 2023 VCT EMEA league.

Twisten revealed that he had been dealing with depression for over two years and had gone through a tough time in his personal life during the Red Bull Home Ground in December 2022. Despite his struggles, he received overwhelming support from the VALORANT community.

During VCT LOCK//IN, Twisten pledged to donate $25 to charity for every Shorty frag made throughout the tournament. In total, he donated $1,545 to Hunderettung Europa, an organization dedicated to changing the lives of rescue dogs and cats in Europe.

Teammates Remember Twisten

Twisten’s teammates at Team Vitality have shared their heartfelt memories of the young player. Santeri “BONECOLD” Sassi described him as “the most genuine human I’ve met,” while Michał “MOLSI” Łącki expressed the loss of a teammate, friend, and brother.

Tomas “Destrian” Linikas expressed his disbelief and described Twisten as a man with boundless potential, an incredible personality, and above all, a big heart. He concluded by saying that no amount of tears can bring his friend back.
