SK Gaming Advances to ESL Cologne Grand Final

SK Gaming has secured a spot in the ESL Cologne grand final for the second consecutive year, with hopes of claiming their fifth championship title in 2017. The team’s flawless 2-0 victory over FaZe Clan in today’s semifinal has put them at the top.

Overpass: SK Gaming Dominates

During the Overpass match, SK Gaming displayed complete dominance, leaving FaZe Clan with only two rounds in each half. A remarkable 13-2 lead as Counter-Terrorists allowed SK Gaming to maintain their advantage throughout the game, while FaZe Clan struggled to make a comeback. The final score for Overpass was an impressive 16-4. Top fragger Marcelo “coldzera” David scored 22 kills for the Brazilian side and averaged 112.0 damage per round.

Cache: FaZe Puts Up a Fight

On Cache, FaZe Clan stepped up their game and managed to keep up with the typically strong SK Gaming’s Terrorist side, trailing 9-6 at halftime. However, SK Gaming faced some challenges on their Counter-Terrorist side, allowing FaZe Clan to force overtime. After regulation time, Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and the SK Gaming crew figured out FaZe Clan’s strategies and overcame them with a 4-1 overtime victory, ending the match with a 19-16 scoreline and ending FaZe Clan’s run in Cologne.

The Playoff Picture

SK Gaming’s victory over FaZe Clan sets up a final match against Cloud9, a rematch of the ESL Pro League Season Four Finals, which Cloud9 won in October 2019. This match holds great importance for SK Gaming as they aim for their third consecutive championship and their fifth title of 2017 overall.
