Guild X defeats G2 Gozen at EMEA Game Changers 3

Guild X defeats G2 Gozen in Game Changers Grand Finals

G2 Gozen’s undefeated run in this year’s Game Changers competition came to an end in a thrilling best-of-series grand finals against Guild X. Both teams will represent EMEA at the Game Changers world championship finals in Berlin in November.

Back-and-forth battle

The series saw G2 and Guild X exchanging map picks throughout. G2 secured victories on Bind and Pearl, while Guild X emerged victorious on Fracture and Ascent. The fate of the series was ultimately decided on Icebox, where Guild X dominated the first half with a 10-2 score. Despite losing the second-half pistol, G2 fought back on their attack half. However, Guild X managed to close out the map with a 13-9 score.

Revenge for aNNja

aNNja Vasalic from Guild X had the chance to seek revenge against her former team. G2 Gozen had released aNNja just a month after she joined the team and its original lineup. Guild X signed aNNja in April this year, and they had previously lost to G2 Gozen three times before finally securing a win in the Series Three final.

Both Guild X and G2 Gozen had already secured their spots at the Game Changers championship in Berlin before the match. Guild X secured their place by defeating NAVI Celestials in the lower final the day before. Regardless of the outcome of the grand finals, both teams had already earned the two EMEA spots at the Game Changers championship.

In November, both Guild X and G2 Gozen, along with other regional representatives, will travel to Berlin for the Game Changers championship.
