OpTic’s VALORANT Roster May Need to Split, Yay Admits

OpTic Gaming’s Future in VALORANT Uncertain, Players Likely to Split Up

OpTic Gaming’s journey in VALORANT seems to be nearing its end, as fans may not see the players competing together for VCT 2023.

Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker, a member of OpTic Gaming, has addressed the future of the team after failing to secure a VALORANT partnership for next year.

In a recent interview on The Richard Lewis Show, yay said, “We are talking to a few different people… but it’s really hard, unfortunately. For us, who was succeeding and doing really well, to pay that much money… it would be really hard, and most likely, we would have to split up.”

Possibility of Squad Staying Together

OpTic Gaming had a highly successful year in VALORANT, with notable achievements such as a runner-up finish in VCT Champions and winning VCT Masters Reykjavik in April. However, their journey is likely to end prematurely due to VALORANT’s upcoming partnership leagues.

Next year, all major VALORANT leagues will transition to a semi-closed circuit, with Riot Games handpicking participating teams. Unfortunately, OpTic Gaming will not be part of this new format.

Consequently, OpTic Gaming is likely to disband. Their transfers, along with those of other teams not included in next year’s leagues, will kickstart an exciting and busy offseason for the game.

Despite the potential breakup, OpTic’s players will surely find new teams in the future, given their past performances.
