JuJu Smith-Schuster reveals receiving $100,000 for watching Thursday Night Football on Twitch

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster reveals earnings from Thursday Night Football stream

In a surprising revelation, JuJu Smith-Schuster, the wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, accidentally disclosed how much he earned from participating in TimTheTatman’s Thursday Night Football stream, which was a partnership with the NFL.

TimTheTatman has been co-streaming Thursday Night Football games almost every week this NFL season. His co-streaming deal was made possible through Amazon Prime Video’s digital streaming rights agreement with the NFL, which began three years ago.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, known for his love of gaming and playing with popular Twitch streamers, was playing Fortnite with Taylor “THump” Humphries when he accidentally revealed that he received a payment of $100,000 for watching the Dallas Cowboys play against the Chicago Bears last week.

During his stream, Smith-Schuster said, “I did a stream yesterday, with TimTheTatman, or like two days ago, we watched the Cowboys game and I got paid $100K for that.” It is important to note that the video-on-demand (VOD) of that particular stream has been deleted from Twitch.

This revelation came after THump expressed his surprise that Smith-Schuster doesn’t have more endorsements. Although the exact amount that streamers like TimTheTatman and NickMercs get paid for co-streaming Thursday Night Football games remains unknown, the presence of the “#ad” label in the streams’ titles confirms that they are being compensated in some way.

While the earnings of co-streamers remain a mystery, Smith-Schuster’s disclosure provides a glimpse into the financial incentives of such collaborations.
