XSET VALORANT lineup searches for new opportunity following a letdown in VCT partnership

XSET VALORANT Team Seeking Partnership with a New Organization

The VALORANT team of XSET is currently in the process of finding a new organization to partner with, according to sources. Although XSET as an organization was not granted partnership, the team’s players and coach are determined to stay together.

XSET reportedly made significant progress during the partnership application process but recently received news that their application was unsuccessful. This morning, Riot announced the top three criteria for partnered teams, which include shared values, a strong fanbase, and a focus on long-term sustainability. The teams’ performance in VCT was not a deciding factor in Riot’s decision.

In terms of success, XSET’s performance during the 2022 VCT season would have made them a top contender. At Champions, XSET demonstrated their competitiveness and reached the playoffs. They even defeated the defending Masters Copenhagen winners, FunPlusPhoenix, in the group stage, surprising fans who doubted their ability to advance. However, they were ultimately eliminated by FPX in a rematch in the lower bracket following a loss to OpTic.

The only North American team that outperformed XSET at Champions was OpTic, who finished in second place. However, the future of OpTic’s roster is uncertain as Victor Wong and Austin “crashies” Roberts’ contracts expired after Champions. Shortly after the announcement of partnered teams, Victor shared that the duo is actively seeking to sign together, indicating that the OpTic roster is unlikely to remain intact going into 2023.

This situation makes XSET the top-performing team in recent history to seek a partnership as a full group. The roster and organization are now in search of a new home for the team during the offseason, with the hope of playing together in the partnered league in 2023.
