Rocket League Esports Undergoes Major Transformation: RLCS X and a Massive $4.5 Million Prize Pool Introduced

Rocket League Esports Introduces Exciting Changes for RLCS X

Rocket League esports is set for an exciting makeover. Psyonix has announced its plans for the upcoming season of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) with significant format changes and an increased prize pool.

The RLCS X will deviate from the previous league format, moving towards a circuit format with three splits that will culminate in the Rocket League World Championship. Psyonix states, “Throughout the season, more than $4,500,000 in prizes will be awarded across all regions.”

Each split will consist of three events for North America and Europe, each with a $100,000 prize pool. The splits will conclude with a Major event, featuring a total prize pool of $250,000.

The Rocket League World Championship is the ultimate goal for teams. Teams will qualify based on their performance, with Majors offering more points than other tournaments. Points will reset between splits to give every team a chance to qualify for Majors, but they will count towards the path to the World Championship.

The World Championship will include 16 teams, including two each from South America and Oceania. Psyonix is collaborating with organizers from these regions to develop their own official circuits, ensuring teams have an opportunity to reach the World Championship.

In addition to these changes, Psyonix has introduced The Grid, a dynamic tournament series designed to keep the competition fierce. Inspired by the concept of a “starting grid” in racing events, The Grid allows teams to battle for Grid Points, prize money, better seeding, and a spot at the Majors.

Each split will feature nine weekly tournaments as part of The Grid. The team with the most points will secure a spot in the Major, although Grid Points will not count towards World Championship qualification. Players and teams are allowed to stream matches in The Grid.

The RLCS X’s fall split will kick off with a European event on August 1st. Players can already sign up for the event.
