Psyonix Boosts Regional Championship Prize Pool Following Cancellation of Rocket League World Championship

Rocket League Regional Championships Receive Increased Prize Pool

Taking the competition to new heights, Psyonix has announced an increase in the prize pool for all Regional Championships in this season of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS). This exciting update follows the recent cancellation of the World Championship due to concerns over the coronavirus.

Additional Prizing for Regional Championships

As stated in an official blog post, Psyonix has made the Regional Championships the highlight of Season 9 by adding an additional $250,000 to the prize pool across the four regions that were set to compete at the World Championship.

Prize Distribution

In light of the increased prize pool, the winnings will be distributed among the teams that would have qualified for the World Championship. Notably, North America and Europe will see the biggest increase in prizes, with the winners in these regions taking home an extra $52,000 and a grand total of $70,000. Second place winners will receive $40,000, while third place holders will be awarded $10,500, nearly triple the previous amount of $6,000.

Oceania and South America will also benefit from the increased prize pool. The winner of the OCE Championship will receive an additional $15,000, making their total winnings $37,500. The runner-up will see a $10,000 increase, taking home $24,000.

In South America, the top team will receive $23,000, with the runner-up taking $17,000.

Promoting Esports Scene

In addition to the increased prize pool, Psyonix is actively working on a plan to deliver the regional competitions live and online. The goal is to promote the Regional Championships and ensure the flow of the Rocket League esports scene.
