NRG declared winners of the Rocket League Championship Series season 8

NRG Crowned Rocket League Championship Series Season 8 Champions

NRG, a top-tier team in competitive Rocket League, has emerged victorious as the Rocket League Championship Series Season 8 champions after two intense series against Renault Vitality.

During the summer, NRG faced challenges after losing a player and a coach. However, their decision to bring in Pierre “Turbopolsa” Silfver, an experienced winner, and long-time player Emiliano “Sizz” Benny to fill those positions proved to be a successful move.

After dominating the group stage, it became evident that NRG and RV were the standout teams in Group A. RV only lost a single game to eUnited before facing NRG in the grand finals. While both sides qualified, it was NRG who set the pace and secured a 3-2 victory in a closely contested game five.

In the playoffs, Spacestation Gaming stood no chance against NRG, as they won the first three rounds and sealed the series with a dominant 4-1 victory. Unfortunately, Tshaka “Arsenal” Taylor Jr.’s team fell short and tied for third place.

RV faced a challenging path to secure a rematch, as Pittsburgh Knights pushed them to the brink of elimination in the opening playoff game. The series extended to six games, but RV managed to secure a 4-2 win.

However, Dignitas refused to make it an easy journey for RV to reach the grand finals.

Jos “ViolentPanda” van Meurs was determined to secure an RLCS Championship for Dignitas. The team put up a fierce fight against RV, trading victories in the first two games before Victor “Fairy Peak” Locquet’s squad took a 3-1 lead.

Dignitas managed to bounce back and force a game seven, but a close 1-0 score on Champion’s Field dashed their hopes right before reaching their goal.

In the rematch from the group stage, NRG claimed the first game, but RV swiftly responded with two solid defensive performances, including a nail-biting 4-3 win in game three. Garrett “GarrettG” Gordon helped NRG make a comeback before RV forced another game seven.

In the most crucial game of the year, it wasn’t Garret or Turbo who stepped up, but Justin “jstn” Morales. In overtime, Morales secured the win with an impressive off-the-wall shot that bypassed the defenders. This play sealed the game 2-1 in NRG’s favor, and they clinched the RLCS Season Eight trophy.

This victory marked the first RLCS title for both GarrettG and jstn, while Turbopolsa proudly added a fourth trophy to his collection. Turbo was also honored as the event’s World Championship MVP, earning an extra $5,000 in addition to the team’s $200,000 prize.

NRG is the third team that Turbopolsa has helped elevate to the Championship, following Northern Gaming and Gale Force eSports.
