Rocket League Trades and Other Features Temporarily Disabled by Psyonix Before Update

Temporary Trading Disabled in Rocket League Ahead of Blueprints Update

Psyonix announced that trading in Rocket League has been temporarily disabled in preparation for the upcoming Blueprints Update. In addition, certain item-related interactions and purchases have been put on hold.

Starting from December 4, players will be unable to buy keys, DLCs, or trade-in and interact with crates until the release of the Blueprints Update. The update is scheduled to go live at 12pm CT on December 4.

The Blueprints update will bring significant changes to Rocket League’s item system. Crates will be replaced by Blueprints, and the use of keys will be phased out in favor of Credits. To ensure a smooth transition, Psyonix has chosen to temporarily freeze operations before the update.

In the previous system, crates acted as loot boxes, each with specific item pools containing cosmetics of different rarity levels and drop rates. Opening a crate required one key, which players could trade with each other and use as currency within the game. Keys could also be purchased from the in-game store.

With the introduction of Blueprints, the randomness of the previous system will be reduced. Each blueprint will correspond to a specific item, and constructing items from the blueprints will require one’s Credits, the new in-game currency. Like keys, Credits can be traded with other players and can be purchased using real money. Players will have full knowledge of what they will receive when building an item from a blueprint.

In addition to the new system, Psyonix will be launching the Item Shop. This virtual store will showcase a variety of items that can be purchased with Credits. The items featured in the shop will rotate on a timed basis, either every 24 or 48 hours depending on the item. The shop will offer a wide range of cosmetics, including cars, decals, goal explosions, and individual DLC Pack items.

As part of the transition, each existing crate will be converted into a blueprint for a corresponding item, and keys will be converted into Credits based on the number of keys owned by the player. The update will also introduce competitive season 15 and the fifth Rocket Pass.
