Opinion: VALORANT Lacks Essence and Player Demand Diminishes

Streamer Ster Criticizes Riot Games’ New FPS Game, VALORANT

VALORANT

During a recent live stream, popular streamer and YouTuber Ster expressed his dissatisfaction with Riot Games’ latest first-person shooter, VALORANT.

While playing Paladins, Ster shared his thoughts on VALORANT, stating that the game lacks “soul.” He further described VALORANT as a combination of various elements designed to create a successful game, but emphasized that it ultimately falls short and fails to resonate with players.

Ster, also known as Star_, gained prominence through his content on Team Fortress 2 and was recognized as one of the internet’s most influential players. He has since shifted his focus to streaming.

Ster’s criticism follows a highly successful marketing campaign by Riot Games on Twitch. The campaign involved distributing early access keys to users who watched VALORANT streamers, resulting in a significant surge in popularity for the game on the platform. Even during downtimes, streamers replayed VALORANT content to retain and attract viewers.

Although viewer numbers have declined since VALORANT became free-to-play for all, the game has consistently maintained its position as one of the platform’s most popular games.
