Brame Defeats Team Secret in Miracle Win
Brame, the underdog, emerged victorious in a close battle against Team Secret, securing a potential game-changer for the Western Europe standings in the 2022 Dota 2 Pro Circuit Spring Tour.
An Up-Hill Season for Brame
This season hasn’t been easy for the Greek squad. Starting the DPC with three consecutive losses can significantly damage a team’s confidence, especially when they had recently reformed their core before the Spring Tour began.
Turning the Tide Against Secret
Brame approached their series against Secret with just two DPC wins, aware that another loss could put them at risk of relegation by the end of the Dota 2 season. After the first match, many fans may have doubted their ability to make a comeback.
However, despite Secret’s strong performance in the second match, Brame managed to reverse the situation with a well-executed strategic call.
The Miracle Strategy
When they realized the need to take action, the Brame team quickly brainstormed and devised a plan. Utilizing split pushing, cancelling teleportation scrolls, and backdooring, Focus, playing as Anti-Mage, sold some of his items to acquire an Assault Cuirass and a Divine Rapier during the final minutes of the game.
These two items focused on building damage allowed Brame to effectively chip away at Team Secret’s Ancient and secure the victory. Secret was notably surprised by the outcome and struggled to regain momentum, ultimately losing the third game of the series in just 42 minutes.
Implications for the Standings
Not only was this win crucial for Brame, but it also shook up the middle section of the standings as teams vie for a spot at the Stockholm Major.
Following the series, Brame found itself tied for fourth place with Team Liquid and Secret, holding the tiebreaker over Secret but having lost to Liquid 0-2 in week three of the season. While Liquid still has a chance to separate from the pack, the result has opened up the possibility for Brame to secure a potential fourth-place finish.
Hopes Revived for Brame
“Without this win, we’d be hopeless, we wouldn’t have a chance, but now it feels like we resurrected the team from the dead,” said Giorgos “SsaSpartan” Giannakopoulos.
If Brame can win against OG or Tundra while their rivals, Liquid and Secret, drop even a single game, the team has a chance to secure their ticket to the Major.
