Sean Gares explains decision to move on from casting: ‘Pay is not a factor’

Former CS:GO Pro, Sean Gares, Steps Away from VALORANT Talent Broadcast

Sean Gares, a former professional CS:GO player turned VALORANT caster and analyst, has decided to step away from the talent broadcast this week. Unfortunately, he did not make the cut to work at VCT Masters One Reykjavík.

The 33-year-old is ready to get involved in the competitive scene once again. Though his next moves are uncertain, fans, players, and talent members believe he would make an excellent coach. During one of his recent streams, Sean discussed his love for casting and his reasons for not pursuing opportunities in that field further.

Seeking Consistent Exposure

Sean explained, “As time went on with casting, the opportunities weren’t there. People speculated that it was about pay, but no, it has nothing to do with pay. I gladly accepted a pay cut this year. I would have worked at Iceland [Reykjavík] for free. That’s what I told Riot Games. It’s about exposure and job security. Getting consistent exposure is very important for broadcast talent.”

Eager to Move Forward

Although Sean expressed his disappointment at not being able to work at VCT Masters One Reykjavík, he also stated that he’s not dwelling on it and is fully committed to his new job. Back when he played CS:GO as an in-game leader, many players and analysts praised him for his tactics and overall understanding of the game.

Sean has hinted that he will be sharing more news soon. His decision to get involved in the competitive scene comes at a time when Sentinels is actively seeking a new VALORANT coach. Many in the community believe he would be the perfect fit for the team.
