Why NA VALORANT teams should prioritize consistency and improvement over results, according to Vanity

Cloud9 VALORANT Team Continues to Impress in North America

The North American VALORANT scene has been buzzing with discussion about whether Cloud9 and their star player, Anthony “vanity” Malaspina, are the best team in the region. And their recent performance in the group stage of 2022 North American VCT Challengers One certainly makes a strong case for them.

Under Vanity’s leadership as the in-game leader (IGL), Cloud9 has been dominating the competition, winning an impressive 23 out of 24 matches against North American opponents. Their only loss came against Rise during the LCQ, but they quickly avenged that defeat with a resounding 3-0 victory in the grand finals. Vanity, however, emphasizes that he and his team are focused on their journey rather than specific results, believing that putting in consistent effort and constantly improving is the key to success.

Cloud9 Roster Shines with Individual Talent

As a team, Cloud9 has been steadily improving since its formation, with standout performances from players like Vanity, who is considered one of the top IGLs in NA. Xeppaa has also made a name for himself as one of the top flex players, while Leaf’s skills on Jett are unmatched in the region.

Cloud9’s Ongoing Pursuit of Improvement

Despite their success, Vanity acknowledges that there are areas for improvement. The team is actively working on overcoming habits formed during their days in CS:GO, such as over peeking and making costly mistakes. Vanity remains critical of the team’s performance, even after wins, striving to find ways to get better with each match.

In their recent playoff match against Knights, Vanity admits that C9 had an off day and allowed their opponents to remain competitive. He highlights the need to avoid throwing rounds and provides examples of missed opportunities in the match. Despite the victory, Vanity considers it the worst performance since joining Cloud9.

Looking Ahead and Recognizing Competitors

As Cloud9 looks towards the playoffs, Vanity is wary of underestimating any opponent. While Luminosity and Knights making it to Iceland would surprise him, he understands that anything can happen in competition, citing Cloud9’s unexpected journey to Iceland last year. He also praises Version1, expressing a desire to face them in the playoffs.

Before potentially facing Version1, Cloud9 will first need to overcome OpTic in their upper bracket semifinals.

Cloud9’s continued success and pursuit of improvement make them a force to be reckoned with in the North American VALORANT scene.
