EPICENTER 2017: Day 2 Recap
The second day of EPICENTER 2017 in St. Petersburg, Russia has concluded, and four of the top teams are ready to compete for the first two playoff spots.
FaZe Clan and SK Gaming will face off in the winners’ match of Group A, while G2 Esports and North will compete in the winners’ match of Group B. Both FaZe and North emerged victorious from their first matches against Gambit Esports and Team Liquid, with scores of 2-1.

FaZe’s match against Gambit was an intense competition. The first map, Train, went in favor of Gambit, with a close scoreline of 19-16 in overtime. However, FaZe struck back on Inferno with a 16-9 win. The final map, Cache, was the most contested, going to double overtime before FaZe secured a 22-20 victory, thanks to outstanding performances from Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovacs and Nikola “NiKo” Kovac.
In their match against North, Team Liquid started strong on Inferno with a 16-14 scoreline. However, North gained momentum in map two, Mirage, and closed it out with a 16-11 win. The deciding map, Cobblestone, was a tight match until the second half, where North’s strong defenses led them to another 16-11 victory. Notably, Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke played a key role in North’s success, averaging 24 kills per map.
Tomorrow, FaZe will face SK at 10am ET, while North will go up against G2 at 1pm ET.
