Streamer Faces 3-Day Twitch Ban for Inappropriate Content during Art Broadcast

Streamer Receives Twitch Ban for Explicit Illustration, Sparks Debate over Platform Policies

Art streamer Saejin recently faced a three-day Twitch ban after broadcasting an explicit illustration, bringing attention to the platform’s complex policies. In a tweet, the Korean artist expressed frustration, claiming that Twitch’s Terms of Service are becoming overly restrictive.

Twitch Ban Notice and Rising Difficulties

Saejin mentioned that Twitch staff informed them about the ban in advance, allowing the artist to back up their videos. However, creating art on Twitch is becoming increasingly challenging due to the platform’s evolving rules. Saejin expressed concern by stating, “TOS seems to be getting restrictive so the future of art on Twitch seems wack.”

Similar Ban on Another Illustrator

Interestingly, this ban follows Twitch’s recent punishment of illustrator Saruei for her lewd drawings, which the platform deemed suggestive and sexually explicit. Saruei defended herself, pointing out that the clothing she draws on characters is no different from what is seen in video games allowed to be streamed on Twitch. She sought clarification on what she did wrong and how her drawings differed from her previous work.

Ambiguous Guidelines and Employee Controversy

These bans highlight Twitch’s ongoing trend of suspending streamers based on vague Community Guidelines that lack clear standards for determining ban-worthy content. Adding to the controversy, Twitch employee Darren “GeersArt” Geers recently streamed an illustration featuring a naked demonic woman with exposed breasts while offering art advice to viewers. Ironically, his content is similar to the illustrations that resulted in bans for Saejin and Saruei, yet his channel remains unaffected.

Despite the ban, Saejin’s fans can anticipate their return to the artist’s Twitch channel at the end of the three-day suspension.
