Zellsis returns to Version1 following brief time with Sentinels

Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro Returns to Version1 VALORANT Team

Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro has rejoined his original VALORANT team, Version1, after a brief period with Sentinels.

In July, there were rumors that Zellsis would participate in the North American VCT Last Chance Qualifier with Sentinels. Shortly after, Sentinels confirmed that he would be competing with them.

Due to Version1 not having enough points this year to qualify for the LCQ, Zellsis was free to move to Sentinels and compete with them. It is likely that Zellsis would have also competed with Sentinels if they had made Champions. However, he will now be competing under the Version1 banner once again.

Although franchising is set to take place next year, competing in tier-two tournaments offers a clear path back to tier-one competition. Most teams are aiming to retain their players or strengthen their rosters even if they don’t make franchising, as it will still be possible to compete at the highest level in VCT.

Prior to the NA LCQ, Sentinels made two additions to their team: Zellsis and popular streamer shroud. Additionally, Sentinels recently signed Tarik, who is widely regarded as the most-watched VALORANT streamer. Initially, fans believed he would join the team solely as a content creator, but with the current gap in the roster, speculation has arisen about him potentially taking Zellsis’ spot.

Sentinels have not made an official announcement regarding who will replace Zellsis on the roster. However, they have some time to make that decision as they are done for the season after being eliminated from the NA LCQ tournament and not qualifying for VALORANT Champions 2022.

Update Aug. 31 2:42pm CT: Version1 has released a statement to regarding Zellsis’ return to the team, stating, “Our goal is to assemble the strongest possible roster before making any franchising decisions. We are pleased to welcome Jordan back.” No further details about his contract or status have been provided. Sentinels has yet to make an official statement concerning Zellsis’ departure.
