G2 brings mixwell back to active VALORANT lineup

Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas Returns to G2’s VALORANT Lineup

After spending the past 30 days on the bench, Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas has rejoined G2’s VALORANT lineup. The Spanish pro will be taking the place of French player Wassim “keloqz” Cista, who replaced him in January. This roster change comes as a surprise to pundits and fans, considering G2’s successful record with keloqz. G2 won 10 out of the 11 matches they played with him, defeating teams like Alliance, TENSTAR, Excel, and SuperMassive Blaze in the European VCT. For now, the reasoning behind this change remains unclear.

G2 Esports Confirms the Roster Change

Mixwell was initially removed from the active lineup and replaced by keloqz following losses to Vitality and Alliance in the VCT Europe: Stage One closed qualifier in early January. At the time, it seemed like the veteran player was finished with G2, as he expressed his openness to offers while on the bench. However, mixwell has been a part of G2 since June 2020, when the organization entered VALORANT, and he is the only remaining member from the original roster that G2 assembled.

Now that mixwell is back in G2’s active lineup, fans are eagerly waiting to see if he will once again take on the in-game leadership role or focus on his individual play as a Jett player. In recent matches, Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas has been serving as G2’s captain.

Mixwell’s return to action is scheduled for Saturday, February 26 against BBL Esports in the VCT EMEA Challengers Stage One.
