World of Warcraft Classic launch is happening today

Blizzard Releases Original World of Warcraft Version for Players to Relive the Good Old Days

Blizzard is going back to the basics and giving both old and new players the chance to experience the original version of World of Warcraft. After 15 years and numerous updates, expansions, races, and classes, players have been longing for the nostalgia of the early days.

World of Warcraft Classic has finally arrived, thanks to Blizzard and advocates from the Nostalrius private server. Phase one of the game was released today at 5pm CT.

Classic has already caused a huge buzz, overwhelming Blizzard’s servers even before its release. Popular Twitch streamers such as Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp and Jaryd “Summit1g” Lazar have expressed their plans to play the game, along with other members of the WoW community.

This excitement has led to increased server demands and filled them to capacity.

In an AMA on Reddit, Blizzard warned fans that crowded servers like Herod and Shazzah might have lengthy queue times, with some instances requiring several hours of waiting. The performance of the servers later today remains uncertain.

World of Warcraft Classic is now available to play for a monthly subscription of $14.99.
