Paper Rex’s narrow defeat against Team Secret at VCT Pacific suggests they’re not at their best.

Team Secret Takes Close Victory against Paper Rex in VCT Pacific Match

The second week of VCT is underway, with the Americas league joining in on the action. In today’s Pacific league matches, Team Secret from the Philippines faced off against Paper Rex from Malaysia and Singapore.

Experienced Teams Battle in Close Contest

Both Team Secret and Paper Rex have a history of impressive performances on the international stage. In 2022, both teams represented the APAC region in multiple Masters and Champions events.

Today’s match between the two squads was closely fought, with Team Secret ultimately taking a 2-1 victory.

Shaky Start for Both Teams

Despite their past experience, both Team Secret and Paper Rex have had a rough start in 2023. At the LOCK//IN tournament, PRX’s coach alecks openly admitted that the team had been struggling in scrims. Similarly, Team Secret faced difficulties in Brazil.

However, the match between the two teams showcased an improvement in their form and a return to their signature styles.

PRX’s Chaotic Playstyle Falls Short

One of the main issues PRX has faced throughout their time together as a team is consistency and team coordination. Their chaotic playstyle, which initially surprised on the big stage, is no longer as effective.

Despite doubts about their chaotic strategy, PRX opted for a double-duelist composition on Haven. They capitalized on a thrifty round using rushing and the Stinger to shift the momentum in their favor.

DubsteP and Invy Shine for Team Secret

DubsteP’s performance on Haven as Killjoy showcased effective gameplay. He played smart and clutch, ensuring that he was the last player alive for his team. Invy also stood out on Fracture, excelling as Breach.

BORKUM from Team Secret played a crucial role in securing a win on Fracture, narrowly avoiding overtime.

PRX’s Jinggg and TS’s consistency were key factors in the back-and-forth momentum throughout the match. Despite PRX’s efforts to regain control, TS’s consistency ultimately led them to a 13-10 win on Split.

Consistency and Calmer Playstyle Pay Off for Team Secret

Team Secret’s consistent and linear progression, along with their new coach Warbirds, is building a name for the roster. Their victory against PRX proves that sometimes a calmer playstyle is more effective than chaos.

Upcoming Matches

Team Secret will face Korea’s Gen.G in their next match, while PRX will play against T1, another Korean team.
