Riot probes framerate problems in recent VALORANT update

Riot Games to Optimize Performance in VALORANT After FPS Drop

VALORANT players have reported a drop in frames per second (FPS) following the most recent 0.49 update. Riot Games is now working on implementing a performance optimization patch to address this issue.

In the beta version of VALORANT, players noticed a significant decrease in FPS, potentially caused by certain in-game elements such as bullet holes. Some players have pointed out that the map, Split, results in the lowest FPS compared to the other available maps. Riot Games developers are actively investigating each reported issue.

Riot Games Acknowledges FPS Drops and Seeks Improvement

Riot associate QA manager, Kevin O’Brien, acknowledged the FPS drop issue in a Reddit post. He assured players that the development team is aware of the problem and is actively investigating to find a solution. O’Brien urged players to report any FPS drops they experience, as Riot Games is committed to improving the game’s performance.

O’Brien also provided insights on analyzing performance by focusing on frametime rather than frame-rate. Frametime measures the amount of time it takes to process one frame. He explained that although a drop from 420FPS to 300FPS may sound significant, it results in a relatively small increase in frametime. Therefore, these drops are not uncommon and should not be alarming.

Riot Games Monitoring Competitive Mode and Upcoming Update

Riot Games is actively monitoring the newly-introduced Competitive mode in VALORANT, which was added in patch 0.49. The mode was enabled a few days after its introduction to ensure a smooth gameplay experience and to prevent any potential issues.

The FPS issues in VALORANT are crucial as they directly affect gameplay, stability, and overall performance. Fortunately, Riot Games plans to address these issues in an upcoming update, which could be released within a few weeks.
