Players of VALORANT are puzzled by the fact that this key mechanic does not contribute to their combat score.

Should planting and defusing the spike be included in the combat score in VALORANT?

A VALORANT player believes that planting and defusing the spike should be included in your combat score, sparking a heated debate in the fandom.

Recently, a gamer shared their opinion on Reddit, stating that planting the spike impacts your ability to get kills and should be taken into consideration. They argued that despite not being combat-related, planting and defusing are inherently “risky.” This led to a back-and-forth between other VALORANT players in the community.

Some players argue that planting the VALORANT spike has nothing to do with combat. However, others point out that the game revolves around teamwork and that the objective of planting the spike is a significant part of the competitive game mode.

Players compared it to other tactical FPS titles in the industry. One main argument was that in rival games like CS:GO, your RWS (round win share) “goes up drastically for planting or defusing.” They also mentioned that since VALORANT is an objective-based game, your combat score should be impacted by planting and defusing the spike.

“Planting is half the game,” another player agreed.

On the other hand, some argue that it only takes four seconds to plant, so players shouldn’t be missing out on many kills to begin with.

Planting the spike is an incredibly important aspect of any VALORANT match. In clutch situations, planting the bomb can greatly impact the opportunity to change your combat score.

Despite the heavy discussion, the VALORANT fandom remains divided on this issue. However, everyone can agree that no one wants to be the one planting the spike.
