Marved sheds light on his role as Sentinels’ VALORANT super sub

Jimmmy “Marved” Nguyen Joins Sentinels VALORANT Roster

Sentinels recently welcomed Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen as their newest addition to the VALORANT roster. Marved replaces Hunter “SicK” Mims as the team’s sixth player following Mims’ arrest for criminal trespassing on March 4. The VALORANT community has been curious about the motive behind this move.

Marved’s Impressive Credentials and Free Agency

Marved, known for his exceptional skills as a controller, previously played for OpTic Gaming – one of the top professional teams in the VALORANT scene. He achieved significant success with the team, winning VCT Masters One Reykjavík in April 2022 and finishing as the runners-up at VALORANT Champions 2022 in August. Marved, along with yay, Pujan “FNS” Mehta, Austin “crashies” Roberts, and Victor Wong, was highly sought after in free agency before joining Sentinels. It’s worth noting that Marved has stated that money wasn’t the main motivation behind his decision.

Marved’s Thoughts on Joining Sentinels

During one of his recent livestreams, Marved expressed his perspective on joining Sentinels. He mentioned that if offered the same sixth-man spot by NRG, his former OpTic teammates, he would consider joining them, emphasizing that money wasn’t the driving factor behind his decision. Marved stated that he is ready to play and support Sentinels whenever they need him.

Marved’s Break from Competitive VALORANT and Future Plans

Marved took a break from competitive VALORANT after OpTic failed to secure a partnership spot in the Americas league. At the time, he was unwilling to move to Los Angeles, the city that hosts the league. Although Marved is now on Sentinels’ roster, he remains uncertain about permanently relocating. However, he mentioned that he plans to travel to California multiple times. In the meantime, he will continue streaming and be prepared to compete if Sentinels require his services.

The Americas league is set to commence on April 1 and conclude on May 28. The top three teams from the league will qualify for VCT Masters Tokyo in June and VALORANT Champions in August, which will take place in Los Angeles.
