Complexity and BBG Partnership Denied for 2023 VCT Americas League

Complexity and Built By Gamers Denied Partnership in 2023 VCT Americas League

In North American VALORANT, Complexity and Built By Gamers have been denied partnership in the 2023 VCT Americas League, according to statements released by both teams today.

Although both Complexity and BBG did not make it to the next stage of the partnership application process, they are taking different approaches to their future in VALORANT. Complexity is currently exiting the men’s VALORANT scene but is willing to return in the future if opportunities arise for tier-two players and teams. However, Complexity will continue to support the women’s GX3 roster as they compete in VCT Game Changers. The remaining men’s players will become free agents.

On the other hand, BBG is not immediately withdrawing from VALORANT. CEO Todd Searle stated that BBG will gather more information from Riot about the future of the NA domestic league before deciding if it is still feasible to support a VALORANT team in that division. Searle expressed his desire for BBG to remain in the scene “in some way.”

During Riot’s announcement of the 2023 partnership model for VALORANT, it was mentioned that there are plans to expand regional league competition. This initiative has attracted numerous prominent organizations from Europe over the past year.

Complexity’s departure and BBG’s potential exit add to the growing list of organizations temporarily stepping away from competitive VALORANT in North America. In the past week alone, DarkZero, SoaR, Akrew, and NYFU (NYXL) have also exited the scene. Although Shopify Rebellion was denied partnership, they still have a roster that will compete in the upcoming NA LCQ.

More information from Riot regarding tier two or the regional league could prevent further roster drops. However, until that happens, it is likely that more organizations will leave.
