Introducing the 2.09 VALORANT Patch Notes – Everything you need to know

VALORANT Patch 2.09: New Game Mode and Updates

VALORANT Patch 2.09 is launching today, bringing exciting additions like the new game mode, Replication, along with several minor updates. Viper, the controller agent, will also receive a small nerf in this patch. Let’s dive into the details!

The New Game Mode: Replication

The highlight of Patch 2.09 is the introduction of the Replication game mode. In Replication, the entire team will play as the same agent, which is decided through a voting system before the match. This mode follows a best-of-nine spike format. To handle the overwhelming amount of flashes available with certain agents, Replication includes a “flashguard” for players.

This exciting limited-time mode will be available for two weeks and rewards players with the same amount of XP as unrated games. Make sure to enjoy it while it’s here and have fun overwhelming your opponents with your ability spamming skills!

Viper Nerf and Other Updates

Patch 2.09 also includes a minor nerf for Viper. Previously, walking through Viper’s smoke or wall would instantly inflict 50 damage. With this patch, the damage is reduced to 30, making it a less devastating counter-measure but still effective.

Breeze, one of the VALORANT maps, has also received some minor updates to enhance gameplay. The player collision around the map has been smoothed, and the gaps above Mid-Wood Doors and A Metal Doors are now blocked to improve vision.

In Tournament Mode Custom Games, each team can now use two tactical timeouts per game. Additionally, various improvements have been made to enhance the viewing experience, including adjusted color palettes and improved synchronization of bullet tracers.

Other Improvements and Bug Fixes

Along with the aforementioned updates, Patch 2.09 addresses several bugs related to agents, maps, the competitive mode, game systems, and weapons. For a comprehensive list of all the changes, refer to the official patch notes.
