Yay criticizes VCT Master Copenhagen format: ‘I hope Riot changes the system in the future’

OpTic Gaming Calls for Changes to VCT Masters Copenhagen Format

OpTic Gaming secured a victory over LOUD in the elimination match of Group A at VCT Masters Copenhagen. However, instead of celebrating their win, OpTic player yay expressed concern for LOUD and called for changes to be made to the tournament’s format.

yay took to social media to express his sympathy for LOUD, stating that they should have been a 1st seed and advanced directly to the playoffs. He believes that the decision to have them play in the group stage instead was beyond their control, and hopes that Riot will reconsider the system in the future.

In his tweet, yay reiterated his sympathy for LOUD and emphasized that the decision to have them play in the group stage rather than going straight to playoffs was determined by factors outside their control. He expressed hope that Riot Games, the tournament organizer, will make changes to the system in the future.

Despite their strong performance at previous tournaments, including a second-place finish at VCT Masters Reykjavik and a victory at Brazil Stage two Challengers, LOUD was seeded into the group stage in Copenhagen. Meanwhile, Leviatán, the winners of LATAM Challengers, were given a direct entry into the playoffs.

To qualify for VCT Masters Copenhagen, the second-place teams from Brazil and LATAM, Ninjas in Pyjamas and KRÜ Esports, had to compete in a match on July 1. KRÜ Esports emerged as the victor, sending LATAM’s first seed into the playoffs of the international event.

Despite their elimination from the tournament by OpTic Gaming, LOUD has earned enough circuit points to secure a spot in VCT Champions 2022, which will be held in Istanbul in September. This presents an opportunity for the team to make a comeback.
